The Examination
The examination will consist of one paper containing 60 questions.
These will be in the form of either multiple choice, identification of information from images, a single word or short phrase answer and in some cases a short sentence.
The questions will be drawn from the following categories and are designed to cover a wide range of activities across the malting process as a whole.
· Barley Intake Procedures & Analysis
· Barley Handling & Storage
· Steeping
· Germination
· Kilning
· Malt Storage & Despatch
· Malt Analysis & Analytical Techniques
· Speciality Malt Production
· Food Safety & Quality Control
· Health & Safety and Environmental Management & Control
· Engineering Principles in Malting
· Customers, Commercial & Market Information
Candidates will have one hour to complete the examination.
Each question in the examination carries equal weight and one mark will be awarded for each correctly answered question.
The exam is run on Microsoft Forms. This will allow candidates to scroll back to previous questions if needed and to change answers before submitting a completed form. Once the Submit button at the bottom of the form is pressed this is an irreversible action and confirms that the examination is over.
Completed exam papers will be marked by members of the examination committee and candidates will be advised of their results within two weeks.
